Theni, July 29:

A video released by Suganya T. Muralidharan, a resident of Theni district in Tamil Nadu, has gone viral on social media. In the video, she raises a series of serious allegations against officials of the Revenue and Registration Departments.

She alleges that officials unlawfully altered survey numbers pertaining to her family’s land, issued pattas (land ownership records) to third parties, and facilitated the registration of properties in their names. She further states that she has been engaged in multiple legal proceedings in court regarding these disputes.

According to her, officials manipulated records related to her father’s land and residential property, resulting in the transfer of ownership to other individuals. She also claims that when she raised objections with the authorities, she was subjected to intimidation, verbal abuse, caste-based discrimination, and threats. She further alleges that instead of her complaints being properly addressed, criminal cases were registered against her when she approached the police.

Suganya states that alleged irregularities within the Revenue and Registration Departments have compelled several citizens to seek judicial intervention to protect their property rights. She has urged the government to ensure greater transparency in land records, survey documentation, and patta issuance, and to take strict action against officials found guilty of misconduct or corruption.

She also alleges the involvement of certain Village Administrative Officers (VAOs) in irregularities related to government land, water bodies, and poramboke (common) lands, while acknowledging that many officials within the departments are honest and dedicated in their service.

Note: The allegations made in the video are solely those of the individual concerned. As of now, neither the Government of Tamil Nadu nor the Revenue and Registration Departments have issued an official response. The claims have not been independently verified.
